A 21-Day Journey Through China’s Most Iconic Cities and Landscapes
A group of travellers has embarked on a 21-day journey across China, covering eight cities and some of the country’s most famous landmarks. Their itinerary includes bustling metropolises, historic sites, and breathtaking natural wonders. The trip began with a flight from Vienna to Hong Kong, marking the start of an adventure filled with diverse experiences.
The tour kicked off in Hong Kong, where the group spent three days exploring the city’s highlights. They rode the iconic Star Ferry, visited the historic Man Mo Temple, and soaked in the contrast between modern skyscrapers and traditional neighbourhoods.
On day 5, the travellers headed to Longsheng to witness the Longji Rice Terraces, known as the world’s highest. The following day, they ventured to Yangshuo, where a bamboo raft ride along the Li River offered scenic views of limestone karsts and lush landscapes. By day 7, the group reached Fenghuang, a town celebrated for its well-preserved wooden stilt houses and ancient architecture. Two days later, they arrived in Zhangjiajie, home to Tianmenshan National Park. There, they crossed the world’s longest glass-bottom suspension bridge, suspended high above dramatic gorges. The journey continued with a four-night Yangtze River cruise, starting on day 10. Over the next three days, the travellers visited the Three Gorges Dam and sailed through the Xiling, Wu, and Qutang Gorges, taking in the river’s dramatic scenery. A stop in Chongqing on day 14 included a visit to the Raffles City observation deck, offering sweeping views of the sprawling city. On day 15, the group reached Chengdu, where they spent time at the Giant Panda Breeding Research Base, observing the endangered species up close. The following two days were dedicated to Xi’an, where they explored the Terracotta Army and the Great Wild Goose Pagoda, two of China’s most iconic historical sites. The final leg of the trip took the travellers to Beijing for three days of sightseeing. They visited the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace, the Temple of Heaven, and walked along the Great Wall of China. The adventure concluded with an overnight flight back to Vienna.
The 21-day tour covered a mix of urban exploration, cultural immersion, and natural beauty. From the glass-bottom bridge in Zhangjiajie to the pandas in Chengdu and the historic streets of Beijing, the itinerary showcased China’s diverse attractions. The group’s return flight marked the end of a journey spanning modern cities, ancient wonders, and scenic landscapes.
