A heartwarming Christmas feast at Adintre: Spreading joy on the Costa del Sol
A special Christmas Dinner took place in Fuengirola on December 22, 2025, organised by Fundación Adintre. The homeless charity welcomed guests for a festive meal, complete with live music and community spirit. Behind the event stood María del Carmen Meneses, the founder and president of Adintre, alongside volunteers like Joyce Gyimah BEM.
Joyce Gyimah BEM, a decorated volunteer, led the preparation of a turkey roast that delighted attendees. Her contributions to the homeless community earned her the British Empire Medal. Beyond her work in Spain, Gyimah also runs a housing project in Accra, Ghana, aimed at reducing illiteracy by providing stable homes for families. However, the building still lacks essentials like windows, furnishings, kitchens, and bathrooms before it can open.
The charity’s efforts extended beyond the Christmas Dinner. On Boxing Day, chefs from El Oceano Beach Hotel will serve a gourmet meal to Adintre’s service users. Then, on December 29, Chef Bruce from Cyrano restaurant will provide another hearty lunch. Guests at the Christmas event also received handmade leather shoes, donated by supporters. Adintre relies on donations to operate, requiring around €250,000 for the year. So far, they have raised about €85,000. The festive atmosphere was enhanced by local musicians performing Christmas songs, with children from diverse backgrounds joining in the celebration.
The Christmas Dinner highlighted Adintre’s ongoing commitment to supporting vulnerable people in Fuengirola. With further meals planned and a housing project in progress, the charity continues to seek funding and community support. Their work ensures that those facing hardship receive warmth, food, and dignity during the holidays and beyond.
