ADAC Pushes for ‘Parent Stops’ to Protect Children Near Schools

ADAC Hessen-Thüringen is advocating for safer school zones in Hesse and Thuringia. The organization is promoting the establishment of safety zones for parents dropping off and picking up children, aiming to reduce accidents and encourage independence among young students.

ADAC Hessen-Thüringen has been supporting cities and municipalities in creating safer environments around schools. However, specific details about which locations have benefited from this initiative remain unavailable. The organization is pushing for the implementation of 'parent stops', designated drop-off and pick-up zones situated 200 to 300 meters away from school entrances. This approach aims to alleviate heavy traffic near school gates, which currently poses significant risks to children walking or exiting vehicles.

ADAC's initiative is driven by the concern that many parents drive their children right up to school gates, creating hazardous traffic conditions. By encouraging parents to use these safer alternatives, ADAC hopes to foster independence and social interaction among children as they walk the remaining distance to school in small groups.

ADAC Hessen-Thüringen is actively working to improve safety around schools in Hesse and Thuringia. By promoting the use of 'parent stops' and discouraging regular car drop-offs, the organization seeks to reduce accident risks and empower children to navigate their way to school independently.
