Adiman to Create 31 Local Energy Communities in La Manchuela Conquense

Adiman, the Integral Development Association of La Manchuela Conquense, is set to create 31 local energy communities (LECs) across the region's municipalities. This initiative, backed by Respondere Energía, aims to empower citizens, reduce fossil fuel dependence, and drive rural development.

Energy communities will integrate diverse renewable sources, enabling citizens to produce and manage their own electricity. Adiman president José Luis Merino sees these communities as a catalyst for job creation, population retention, and energy vulnerability reduction in rural areas.

In 2024, Adiman received and approved 347 funding applications, securing over €5.1 million in grants and mobilizing investments exceeding €11.6 million. The largest investments came from non-agricultural companies, followed by agri-food industry projects and small local infrastructure. Adiman also secured over €468,000 in institutional grants for technical support and international cooperation projects.

Adiman will structure these energy communities using a framework of 31 first-tier cooperatives and one second-tier regional cooperative, funded by the Rural Development Group. This project contributes to combating climate change, tackling depopulation, and advancing digitalization in the region.

Adiman's initiative to create 31 energy communities in La Manchuela Conquense is expected to transform the region's energy landscape. By promoting renewable generation and citizen empowerment, these communities will drive rural development and contribute to Spain's energy transition model.
