Allegiant Expands Gulf Shores Flights as Europe & Caribbean Destinations Boom
Allegiant is the sole airline serving Gulf Shores airport, and it's set to introduce more flights in October. Meanwhile, several airlines are expanding their services to European and Atlantic destinations, while a U.S. security alert affects Mexico. New resorts and direct flights are also drawing visitors to the Caribbean and Mexico.
Allegiant will add more flights to Gulf Shores airport in October, becoming the only airline to serve the airport since its public opening last month. In Europe, Vueling Airlines will offer the earliest flight to Catania, Italy, departing from Munich at 08:40 and arriving at 10:45.
Delta is making travel to Catania, Italy easier with new flights to the city, while TAP Air Portugal carries adventurous travelers to Terceira, Portugal, only on Tuesdays through October. Americans can now fly to Terceira for the first time ever this summer, with the inaugural flight from San Francisco taking off last week.
A newly issued security alert by the U.S. Embassy affects Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit in Mexico. However, Riviera Nayarit (Tepic) is set to receive its first-ever direct flight from the U.S. on July 16, 2025, landing in the inland city of Tepic, a 500-year-old gem worthy of a weekend visit. In the Caribbean, South Caicos in Turks & Caicos has a new resort, Salterra, and the first-ever flight from America.
Allegiant's expansion at Gulf Shores airport will provide more travel options for locals and visitors alike. Meanwhile, new flights and resorts are opening up destinations in Europe, the Atlantic, and the Caribbean, offering travelers more choices for their summer getaways. However, travelers should be aware of the security alert in Mexico and plan their trips accordingly.
