Amex Business Platinum Card now lets you add authorized users—with strict rules

American Express has outlined new details about adding authorized users to its Business Platinum Card. The feature allows primary cardholders to extend benefits to employees, contractors, or trusted individuals in their business. However, strict rules apply to who can be added and what costs are involved.

Only the main cardholder can add authorized users to an Amex Business Platinum Card. These users must have a direct business connection, such as being employees or contractors. Friends or family members may also qualify if they make purchases for the business.

The option to add authorized users brings added convenience and financial protections. While the fees and restrictions apply, the benefits—such as lounge access and travel insurance—can outweigh the costs. Businesses must weigh these factors before extending card privileges to additional users.
