Armed teenager, allegedly chasing mother with a knife, is shot by police at residence in Henry County, according to GBI

In a developing story, a Henry County police officer was involved in a shooting incident on Friday evening around 8 p.m. The incident took place at a home on Crandon Court in McDonough, Georgia.

According to reports, the minor was attempting to break into a room where his mother was locked, having allegedly armed himself with a knife. The mother had taken refuge in the room to avoid her son.

Upon arrival at the scene, police found the minor in an upstairs bedroom with the knife. The officer, fearing for the safety of the mother and the minor himself, discharged his weapon, striking the minor.

The minor was subsequently taken to a local hospital, but the current condition of the minor is unknown at this time.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has taken over the investigation into the shooting. Once their investigation is complete, the case will be handed over to the Henry County District Attorney's Office for review. The specific District Attorney who will take over the case has not been named, but it is confirmed that the case will be reviewed by the Henry County District Attorney's Office, as stated by the GBI release on September 4, 2025.
