Camping Boom - Black Forest and Lake Constance Likely to Have Record Year - Baden-Württemberg's Camping Boom: Record Visitors Expected in 2025
Baden-Württemberg's camping scene is thriving, with a projected record number of visitors in 2025. The region, home to the Black Forest and Lake Constance, is one of Germany's top camping destinations. The state association, led by chairman Kurt Bonath, reports a significant surge in tourists in the Black Forest region in 2025, thanks to improved weather conditions compared to the previous year. The summer months of June to August remain the peak season, generating the most revenue and overnight stays. However, camping enthusiasts are now traveling earlier in the year and extending their stays into the fall, leading many small business ideas to extend their seasons.
To attract more tourists and boost turnover, the camping association is shifting away from long-term camping. There are currently 13 5-star and 31 4-star camping places in Baden-Württemberg, with 387 businesses registered and 138 members of the state association. These businesses are focusing on offering quality and leisure activities to attract a more spending-conscious clientele. Around 80 percent of camping guests in the region come from within Germany, reflecting a trend towards resort formation, where guests seek on-site activities and service facilities.
With camping spots in high demand, 2025 is set to be a record year for camping in the Black Forest and Lake Constance. The flourishing camping industry in Baden-Württemberg is adapting to meet the changing preferences of campers, offering more quality and leisure activities to attract and retain visitors.
