Benidorm's Cuchara Festival warms up winter with hearty Spanish stews in 2026

Benidorm's 14th Jornadas de la Cuchara will bring winter warmth to the Costa Blanca from February 27 to March 8, 2026. The festival puts the spotlight on hearty platos de cuchara—traditional Spanish stews, broths, and slow-cooked dishes—served with a local twist. Sixteen of the town's restaurants will take part, each offering their own version of these comfort-food classics.

The event celebrates the region's culinary roots by reimagining beloved recipes. Diners can explore set menus priced at around €25 per person, which include a starter, main dish, drink, and dessert. While exact dishes vary by restaurant, the focus remains on rich, spoon-friendly meals tied to Mediterranean traditions.

All 16 participating venues will present their unique interpretations of platos de cuchara. The festival's structure encourages both locals and tourists to sample a range of flavours, reinforcing Benidorm's growing reputation as a food lover's destination. Organisers aim to highlight the area's produce and cooking heritage through accessible, affordable dining experiences.

The festival's timing in late winter offers a cosy contrast to the usual beachside activities. Visitors can pair their meals with local wines or other regional drinks, all while enjoying the lively atmosphere that Benidorm is known for.

The Jornadas de la Cuchara runs for ten days, giving food enthusiasts plenty of time to try different versions of the same dish. With fixed-price menus and a strong emphasis on tradition, the event makes it easy to explore Costa Blanca's culinary culture. The festival's success could further cement Benidorm's place on the map for gastronomic tourism.
