Singschwantage invites to excursions into the Lower Odertal - Bewick's swans return to Germany's Oder Valley for winter spectacle

Bewick's swans have returned to the Lower Oder Valley National Park near Criewen and Schwedt. These striking birds, known for their two-metre wingspan and bright yellow beaks, will remain in the area until February 1, 2023. The floodplains of the Uckermark region now offer visitors a chance to see and hear them up close.

The 17th Bewick's Swan Days, organised by NABU Unteres Odertal, will take place on January 28 and 29, 2023. This free event invites nature lovers to explore one of Europe's last great river floodplains—a vital resting spot for migratory birds.

Between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM, guided excursions will lead visitors into the national park. Talks on the swans' behaviour and ecology will run alongside craft activities for children. The Oder Valley's unique landscape provides a perfect backdrop for observing these winter guests.

The event wraps up on January 29, but the swans will linger until early February. Their stay offers a rare opportunity to witness one of nature's seasonal spectacles. The Lower Oder Valley continues to serve as a crucial refuge for Bewick's swans and other migratory species.
