Bokor Mountain lures adventurers with history, hiking and luxury

Bokor Mountain, just 8 kilometres from Kampot, is drawing more visitors with its mix of history, nature and luxury. The area features an abandoned French colonial hill station, wild elephants, and a new 5-star resort with a casino. Hikers can explore scenic routes, waterfalls, and all trails—but must stay cautious in certain areas.

The journey up Bokor Mountain begins with a well-paved road, taking around two hours by scooter. Rentals in Kampot cost between $5 and $20, with a full fuel tank adding another $4-5. Upon entering the park, visitors first encounter the Lok Yeay Mao Monument, a towering meditating Buddha statue with sweeping coastal views.

Bokor Mountain blends natural beauty, historical charm, and high-end tourism. The area’s mix of waterfalls, hiking trails, and luxury amenities continues to attract hikers. Visitors are advised to follow safety guidelines while exploring the park’s diverse attractions.
