Climb Solingen’s Luther Church Tower for Stunning Views and Historic Bells

A climb up the Luther Church tower in Solingen offers visitors a rare view of the surrounding region. Standing at around 40 metres, the structure provides sweeping panoramas of the lignite mining area, nearby towns, and local landmarks. Yet despite its popularity, it remains unclear which organisation oversees the tours.

The journey to the top starts with a stone staircase, leading into a mix of wooden steps and a final ladder. Along the way, four steel bells hang inside the tower: the Christmas Bell, the Easter Bell, the Pentecost Bell, and the Death Knell.

At the summit, four balconies await. From here, visitors spot the Dorper Church and St. Joseph’s in Ohligs, as well as Remscheid, Cronenberg, and distant industrial sites. Amateur photographers often take advantage of the height, capturing striking images of the landscape below.

The Luther Church tower gives both locals and tourists a chance to see Solingen from a new perspective. Its mix of historic bells and wide-reaching views make it a standout attraction. Still, those planning a visit may need to ask locally about tour arrangements.
