Cologne Central Station unveils upgraded Deutsche Bahn travel hub and lounge
Deutsche Bahn has reopened its travel centre at Cologne Central Station after a major renovation. The upgraded space now features 16 service counters across 320 square metres. Alongside this, the DB Lounge at the station has also reopened with a fresh design and expanded seating. Cologne marks the sixth Deutsche Bahn location to adopt the company's updated lounge design. The 448-square-metre space now offers 100 seats, split between premium and comfort zones. Earlier modernisations under the same concept took place in Düsseldorf, Nuremberg, Hamburg, and two Berlin stations—Hauptbahnhof and Südkreuz.
The rail operator currently runs 13 lounges across Germany, serving around 3.3 million passengers in 2025. Three more locations—Mannheim, Dresden, and Göttingen—are set for upgrades later this year as part of the ongoing redesign programme.
The renovated travel centre and lounge aim to improve passenger experience at one of Germany's busiest transport hubs. With additional service counters and modernised seating areas, Deutsche Bahn continues its rollout of updated facilities. Further upgrades are planned for 2026, extending the new design to more stations nationwide.
