Davao’s tourism booms with 11% visitor growth in 2025

The Davao Region’s tourism sector saw strong growth in 2025, with an 11% rise in visitor numbers compared to the previous year. Local officials reported a surge in both domestic and international travel, alongside expanded industry training and business accreditation efforts.

From January to September 2025, the region welcomed 2.897 million overnight travellers. Domestic tourism remained the main driver of this performance, though foreign visitors also contributed significantly. The United States led as the top international market, followed by China, Japan, South Korea, and Australia.

The Department of Tourism in Davao (DOT-Davao) supported 21 meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions (MICE) events throughout the year. The region also participated in 12 regional and international travel expos to boost visibility. By the end of December 2025, DOT-Davao had accredited 383 primary tourism businesses and 58 secondary enterprises.

Training programmes expanded as well, with 14,892 individuals completing the Tourism Industry Skills Program in 2025. Looking ahead, DOT-Davao outlined the Regional Tourism Development Plan for 2025–2028, built around six key strategic goals to sustain growth.

The 2025 figures highlight a robust recovery and expansion for Davao’s tourism industry. Increased visitor numbers, business accreditation, and workforce training suggest a solid foundation for future development. Officials will continue implementing the new four-year plan to maintain this momentum.
