Three Postal Workers on a Christmas-Themed Bike Tour to Deliver Wish Lists to Santa Claus

Three postal workers, dressed as elves, are embarking on an unusual summer journey to deliver Christmas wish lists addressed to Santa Claus. The trio, consisting of Simone Nehring, Artur Hajduk, and Ralf Schüttler, who work for the post office in Bremen, are cycling nearly 3,000 kilometers from St. Nikolaus, Germany, to the Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi, Finland.

The journey started in early August 2025 and is expected to take about two weeks as they travel through Germany, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland. This event is part of a long-standing tradition dating back to 1967, where letters from children worldwide addressed to Santa Claus are answered by Deutsche Post volunteers.

The elves will collect wish lists from post offices in Bremen and Hamburg before setting off on their journey. Their main goal is the Santa Claus village, where they will also send replies to the wish lists. The group's first stop is Ruesselsheim.

Each day, they plan to cover 200 to 250 kilometers on their journey. They are traveling with two yellow post bicycles and one mountain bike, without electric motors. A support vehicle will accompany them to transport clothing, tools, and spare parts.

The group is also collecting donations for the "Bunter Kreis Hagen" association. The journey begins at the Nikolaus post office in St. Nikolaus, Saarland, where they were handed a personal letter for Santa Claus by a Nikolaus actor.

The elves are delighted with their unusual summer assignment. Last winter, the team at the Nikolaus post office in Saarland answered over 33,000 children's letters from around the world. After visiting the Santa Claus village, they aim to continue on to the North Cape, which is another 700 kilometers.

This bike tour blends festive spirit with endurance cycling, highlighting a creative and unusual postal delivery method tied to German and Finnish Christmas culture. The letter will be handed over at the Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi, Finland, where Santa Claus will have his official reply ready. Nikolaus also has a wish for Santa: "I wish that Santa would answer my letter."

Simone, Artur, and Ralf, the cycling elves on their unique summer journey, are combining travel and sports as they embark on a 3,000-kilometer bike tour to deliver Christmas wish lists and interact with Santa Claus. Along this journey, they also plan to contribute to their local community, gathering donations for the "Bunter Kreis Hagen" association, integrating charitable efforts into their lifestyle.
