Delta Air Lines will introduce Amazon's high-speed satellite internet service, Amazon Leo, on its flights from 2028. The airline's CEO, Ed Bastian, believes the new system will keep Delta ahead of competitors like Starlink. Both companies are also looking at ways to improve the overall passenger experience beyond just Wi-Fi.

Delta already provides free Wi-Fi to SkyMiles loyalty members across over 1,200 aircraft. The new Amazon Leo service will use low-earth orbit satellites to deliver internet speeds multiple times faster than the current system.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy called the upgrade a 'game-changing' experience for travellers. Bastian added that the pricing would be significantly lower than today's rates, making it more affordable for passengers. The partnership builds on an existing relationship between Delta and Amazon. The airline already uses Amazon Web Services (AWS) and other technologies from the company. While in-flight video calls will be permitted, audio conversations will remain restricted.

The new Wi-Fi system will launch in 2028, offering faster speeds and lower costs. Delta aims to stay competitive with services like Starlink while expanding its collaboration with Amazon. Further enhancements to the passenger experience are also under discussion.
