Deutsche Bahn Warns of Crowds and Delays During Autumn Holidays
Autumn holidays are starting, and sunny weather is drawing many travelers to events near me across southern Germany. Deutsche Bahn warns of increased passenger volumes and potential delays, especially between Stuttgart and Munich until Saturday.
The upcoming long weekend, coupled with folk festivals and unity celebrations, is expected to bring a surge in travelers. Deutsche Bahn advises passengers to be patient and considerate, such as removing luggage from seats and reducing the number of bicycles brought on board. Thursday afternoon, Friday morning, and Sunday are predicted to be particularly crowded.
Several major events in 2025 are anticipated to cause significantly higher passenger volumes. These include the Southside Festival in June, Honberg Sommer Festival in July, and Das Fest in Karlsruhe, along with large folk festivals. Deutsche Bahn recommends checking train occupancy and traveling during off-peak hours for cheaper tickets.
Many seats on Deutsche Bahn's trains are already fully booked for the long weekend. Construction sites in the network may cause delays, such as a 30-minute delay between Stuttgart and Munich until Saturday. Passengers are urged to plan their journeys accordingly and be prepared for potential crowds and delays.
