Dubai Launches Revolutionary Smart System for Cycling & E-scooter Tracks
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has launched a revolutionary Smart Assessment System for cycling and e-scooter tracks. This innovative technology is set to transform soft mobility infrastructure in the city, enhancing safety and sustainability.
The system, developed by unknown creators possibly through a collaboration between local authorities and tech companies, can assess an astonishing 120 km of tracks in just four hours. This is a remarkable 98% improvement over traditional methods. Moreover, it can evaluate 557 km within a month, surpassing conventional techniques by 92%.
The Smart Assessment System creates a digital twin of tracks, enabling proactive assessments and predictive maintenance. It uses advanced cameras and sensors mounted on an electric bicycle to collect data. The system incorporates global benchmarks such as the Track Pavement Condition Index, Track Asset Condition Index, and Ride Comfort Index, ensuring high standards are met.
RTA's initiative reinforces Dubai's position as a global leader in smart, sustainable mobility. It supports Dubai's Sustainable Mobility Vision 2030 by improving the user experience for soft mobility users and prioritizing environmental and operational efficiency. The initiative encourages the adoption of eco-friendly transport, contributing to Dubai's status as a bicycle-friendly destination.
The Smart Assessment System, introduced by Dubai's RTA, significantly enhances the safety and sustainability of cycling and e-scooter tracks. By reducing operational costs and emergency maintenance needs, it supports Dubai's commitment to smart, sustainable mobility.
