Dubai Prepares for a Monumental Spike in Eid Travels, Anticipating a New Record
Dubai International Airport (DXB) is gearing up for a busy travel period during the Eid Al Fitr holiday in 2025, with over 3.6 million guests expected to pass through its terminals between March 26 and April 7.
The peak travel day is forecasted to be Saturday, 5 April, with 309,000 passengers. This surge in traffic is attributed to spring school breaks, increased demand in VFR (Visiting Friends and Relatives) and leisure travel markets, and a growing interest in destinations such as Sri Lanka, Türkiye, and Italy.
To manage this high volume of passengers, DXB is implementing several measures across all terminals. These include increasing operational staff and security personnel, expanding check-in counters and immigration booths, and offering advance travel tips and encouraging early arrival.
Technology will also play a crucial role in facilitating smoother passenger flow. The airport is promoting the use of DXB Express Maps, a smart, real-time wayfinding tool, to help all travellers navigate the airport efficiently during this peak period. The tool can be accessed via QR codes from any flight information screen.
Dubai Airports is also working to provide an efficient travel experience for PoD (People of Determination) travelers. The Assisted Travel Lounge in Terminal 2 is specifically designed for their needs, and the Sunflower Lanyard service is available for PoD travelers at DXB. Additionally, clearly marked accessibility routes for PoD travelers have been implemented.
To expedite immigration processing, the airport encourages the use of Smart Gates. In preparation for the Eid travel surge, these facilities are likely to be emphasized.
Dubai Airports is collaborating with airline, government, and commercial partners to ensure a smooth travel experience for all passengers. The airport has also updated its policies, including prohibited items in carry-on luggage, to enhance security and efficiency.
The first day of Eid Al Fitr in 2025 is expected to be March 31, 2025. Planning for travel surges would be focused around this date. For the most current and detailed measures directly related to Eid 2025, checking official Dubai Airports or carrier announcements closer to the date would be necessary, as such operational details are typically released a few weeks or months before the event.
High outbound traffic is anticipated to key destinations including India, Pakistan, and the UK. The average daily traffic during this period is expected to reach 276,000 guests. Dubai Airports is offering additional support and services for PoD travelers during the busy holiday period.
As Dubai International Airport consistently handles very high passenger traffic during peak times, it is well-prepared to manage the Eid Al Fitr travel surge in 2025, ensuring a smooth and efficient travel experience for all passengers.
