During their three-year sojourn in Bali, a surprising turn of events occurred before their planned journey back to Israel, disrupting their initial itinerary due to the arrival of an individual.
In a heartwarming tale of resilience and love, a small black puppy named Luna has found her forever home in Israel. Golan Shoshan and his girlfriend discovered Luna in their village in Bali, Indonesia, and after a series of challenges, they were able to bring her to her new family.
Luna's journey was not an easy one. Terrified of car and plane rides, she struggled during her 12-hour flight from Bali to Thailand. However, the day after arriving in Thailand, she returned to her old self, a testament to her resilient spirit.
Golan and his girlfriend arranged for someone to drive Luna from Bali to Jakarta, Indonesia, and for her to fly to Bangkok, Thailand, to meet them. After a month of organisation, Luna's journey from Thailand to Israel was completed, a feat made possible due to the indirect routing necessary because of the lack of diplomatic relations between the two countries and the ban on taking animals out of Bali due to rabies.
The trip required strict adherence to veterinary and customs regulations of transit and destination countries. Luna was given a health check-up at the vet, and her owners ensured she had an up-to-date veterinarian health certificate, including her rabies vaccination. They also obtained all necessary export/import permits and certificates, including a health certificate from Indonesian authorities and import permits from Israel.
Since there are no direct flights or diplomatic ties between Indonesia and Israel, transit through a European country was common. Luna and her owners travelled via France, complying with the pet import/export requirements of the transit country. They then connected to Israel with appropriate pet import documentation.
Luna's new home in Israel has been a haven for her. She enjoys the company of other dogs and has quickly learned to play with her owners. During the flight, she slept in her owners' laps, showing her affection and trust.
Luna was previously abandoned by locals in Bali, but now she is happier than ever. Upon arriving in Israel after the storm, she was happier than ever, ready to start her new life.
Golan and his girlfriend encourage others to rescue street animals in need of adoption, hoping that more animals like Luna can find their forever homes. They are grateful for the challenges they faced, as they believe it brought them closer to Luna and enriched their lives.
