But little did she know, the chemical on the packaging of these fancy, overpriced seeds would set off alarm bells for the US Transportation Security Administration (TSA). "I had no idea what was going on," Ellen says, "I thought they were pulling my leg!"
The officers apologetically explained that the security scanner had flagged the seeds as a potential threat, and before she knew it, the bomb squad was on the scene. "I can't believe it," Ellen recalls, "I almost missed my flight because of some organic sunflower seeds!"
While the incident may sound absurd, it turns out that it's not unheard of for seemingly harmless items to trigger airport security alarms. She always keeps a stash of water, hand sanitizer, and baby wipes in her carry-on. But it looks like sunflower seeds might have to go on a permanent hiatus from her travel snack list!
