Emirates Skywards cuts mile-earning on Condor flights from May 2023

Condor passengers will soon lose the ability to earn Emirates Skywards miles. The change takes effect on 1 May 2023, marking a shift in the airline's partnership strategy. However, redeeming existing miles for Condor flights will still be an option.

The decision follows an analysis of booking trends among German Skywards members. Data showed that most used Condor flights primarily to redeem award miles rather than earn them. As a result, the two airlines have agreed to restructure their partnership.

Condor currently maintains ties with several carriers, including Emirates and Alaska Airlines. These collaborations are designed to meet the needs of its frequent flyers. While no immediate expansion of its loyalty programme is planned, the airline recently announced a new codeshare deal with Etihad Airways.

Under the Etihad agreement, daily flights from Frankfurt and Berlin to Abu Dhabi will launch this summer. This adds to Condor's network, though details on other airline partners in its loyalty scheme remain limited.

From 1 May, passengers will no longer collect Skywards miles on Condor flights. The airline's focus remains on tailored partnerships, with Etihad joining as a new codeshare partner. Existing miles can still be used to book Condor services.
