England’s fractured cricket team retreats after brutal Ashes defeats

England cricketers go their separate ways as they pick up the pieces after shattering Ashes loss - and get ready for controversial beach holiday

There will be plenty of soul searching in the England camp this week after getting hammered in the opening two Ashes Tests in Australia, with players going their separate ways before reuniting in Noosa.

The England cricket team has faced criticism for planning a beach and golfing holiday in Noosa amid a tough Ashes series. After heavy losses in the first two Tests, the squad is taking a mid-series break to recharge before the third match in Adelaide. Some have questioned whether the timing is right for a getaway.

Following defeats in Brisbane and Adelaide, the players scattered after the second Test. While some explored the city, captain Ben Stokes and wicketkeeper Jamie Smith stayed at their hotel instead of joining teammates for dinner.

The Noosa trip aims to help players recover before returning to training ahead of the Adelaide Test. Despite backlash, the team insists the break is necessary after two consecutive losses. Their next match begins on Tuesday evening, with preparations set to restart this weekend.
