Escaping Iran: Various Methods Discussed
Hitting the Road (or Sky) Amid Chaos: Exiting Israel and Iran via Jordan's Amman
The heat between Israel and Iran is still reaching boiling points, leaving thousands of Germans caught in the crossfire. To help those wishing to escape, Germany's Foreign Office is arranging special flights departing from Amman, Jordan's capital. However, for folks trapped in Iran, options are scarcer.
Germany's first cautious steps towards exodus started last week with a 'commercial special flight' announced for around 200 passengers today, with a second one lined up for Thursday. But don't get your hopes up; the Foreign Office is quick to clarify that this isn't a repatriation or evacuation, merely a commercial option for weary Germans looking to leave Israel due to security concerns. According to the spokesperson, both Israel-Jordan border crossings are open, and other commercial flight options from Amman are available. A seat on the special flight will cost you a cool 300 euros.
Things are slightly more challenging for Germans stuck in Iran following airspace closures, as commercial exit options via air are limited, the Foreign Office advises. However, a land exit to neighboring countries like Armenia and Turkey is possible, with borders only partially shut. On the other hand, the borders to Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan are closed for regular traffic. Register via the crisis prevention list if you're still in Iran to stay informed about your options, the embassy urges.
Johann Wadephul, Germany's Foreign Minister, emphasized that his team is working tirelessly to support German citizens leaving Israel and Iran. These special Amman-bound flights are made possible thanks to exceptional cooperation with Jordan. Wadephul expressed his gratitude to Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi during their meeting in Berlin.
While the exact number of Germans caught in the chaos remains uncertain, around 4,000 have registered on the Foreign Office's crisis prevention list for Israel, and more than 1,000 are on the list for Iran. Here's hoping these bold steps bring some peace of mind to those looking to get out of Dodge.

Amidst the escalating political tensions, the community policy and employment policy statements of Germany's Foreign Office have been instrumental in arranging commercial special flights from Amman, Jordan's capital, to assist Germans who wish to exit Israel due to security concerns. On the other hand, those trapped in Iran may find their lifestyle and travel options limited due to airspace closures, although a land exit to neighboring countries like Armenia and Turkey remains possible.
