The 2028 Los Angeles Summer Olympics and Paralympics are fast approaching, with the Games set to commence on July 14, 2028, and conclude on July 30, 2028. The Paralympics will follow from August 15 to August 27, 2028.

Venues and Tickets

Approximately 40 venues will host the Olympic events, with the majority taking place in downtown L.A. and Exposition Park (10 venues), Long Beach (7 venues), Carson, Inglewood, the San Fernando and San Gabriel valleys. Events will also be scheduled in San Clemente, Venice, Anaheim, Pacific Palisades, Pomona, the City of Industry, and Oklahoma City for softball and canoe slalom events.

Tickets for the Olympic Games will become available through the official sales channel starting with a registration phase in January 2026. Fans can register to participate in a lottery system to purchase tickets. Paralympic tickets will be available in 2027. Olympic and Paralympic competition tickets will start at $28, making them accessible to a wide audience.

Accommodation and Travel

Many hotels in Greater Los Angeles have already made deals allotting blocks of rooms for the Games. Hotel bookings for the 2028 Olympics can be made 365 days ahead, around July 2027. Short-term rental prices are expected to soar during the Olympics, with Airbnb allowing bookings up to two years in advance for short-term rentals.

Flights can be booked up to 11 months before the flight date, and unsold hotel room-nights may become available 60-90 days before the event. However, it's important to note that domestic travelers fill most seats at the Olympics, and foreign visitors may face potential challenges due to immigration policies.

Potential Challenges

President Trump's immigration policies could potentially affect the Games. Tensions between major L.A. hotels and union workers may surface during the Olympics due to minimum wage increases. It's recommended that visitors plan their travel and accommodations well in advance to ensure a smooth experience.

Some of the toughest tickets to obtain will be for gymnastics, swimming, track and field, and beach volleyball. With the Games fast approaching, it's an exciting time for sports fans around the world to start planning their trips to Los Angeles for the 2028 Summer Olympics and Paralympics.
