Santa Claus is coming to Himmelpfort - Father Christmas lands in Germany to kick off festive letter season early
Father Christmas is set to arrive in Himmelpfort, Brandenburg, on November 1st, six weeks before Christmas. He will be joined by 20 'Christmas angels' to help answer children's letters from Germany and around the world. The event will kick off the festive season at Germany's largest Christmas post office.
Father Christmas will travel from the North Pole to Himmelpfort, touching down at around 11:00 AM. Upon arrival, he will be greeted by excited children from Bredereiche Primary School, who will hand over their wish lists. The 20 'Christmas angels' assisting Father Christmas are volunteers from the Deutsche Post.
The tradition of sending letters to Santa in Himmelpfort began in 1984, with the first two letters coming from children in Saxony and Berlin. Since then, the post office has received around 300,000 letters each year, making it the largest Christmas post office in Germany.
By Christmas, Father Christmas and his team of 'Christmas angels' will have read and replied to countless letters from children worldwide. The event in Himmelpfort marks the start of the festive season, bringing joy and anticipation to children everywhere.
