Florida and Mexico dominate US spring break travel searches in 2024

Spring break travel searches reveal clear favourites among US travellers this year. Florida destinations dominate domestic picks, while Mexico leads international choices. Cancún and Puerto Vallarta top the list for many states, with Cancún alone claiming the highest spot in 13 regions.

Florida's appeal is undeniable, with Key West ranking as the most-searched domestic destination in 17 states and Washington, D.C. Destin follows closely, leading in 15 states. Orlando also stands out as the preferred choice within Florida itself.

In Alabama, Gulf Shores beats Orange Beach for in-state travellers. Texas sees Galveston as the top local pick, while Myrtle Beach outperforms Hilton Head Island in South Carolina.

Internationally, Mexico takes the lead, with Cancún and Puerto Vallarta drawing the most interest. Cancún's popularity stems from direct flights, affordable costs, and a mix of nightlife and cultural attractions. Greece ranks second, leading in eight states, while Belize and Iceland follow with five and three states, respectively.

Florida's Key West and Destin together account for 33 of the 51 top domestic spots across the US and D.C. Meanwhile, Mexico's Cancún remains the strongest international choice, thanks to its accessibility and party-friendly offerings. These trends highlight the preferred destinations for spring break travellers this season.
