Frankfurt’s THE FLORENTIN redefines luxury in a historic 1901 villa

Frankfurt’s latest luxury hotel, THE FLORENTIN, has opened its doors in the historic Sachsenhausen district. The property transforms the former Villa Kennedy, blending a century-old villa with modern design. Part of the Althoff Collection, it also belongs to the prestigious Leading Hotels of the World group.

The hotel’s origins trace back to 1901, when architect Alfred Günther designed a grand townhouse for the Speyer banking family. His Gothic and Renaissance-inspired building later served scientific institutions after World War II. In the early 2000s, the site expanded, eventually becoming Villa Kennedy, which operated until 2022.

THE FLORENTIN marks a new chapter for the 1901 villa, repurposing it as a luxury destination. Its mix of heritage architecture and modern comforts offers guests a unique stay in Frankfurt. The hotel officially welcomed visitors on December 1, 2025.
