Association: Fewer Motorhomes and Caravans Produced - Germany’s Motorhome Market Shrinks in 2025 Despite Steady Demand for Leisure Travel

Germany’s motorhome and caravan industry faced a challenging year in 2025. Production fell by 17%, with manufacturers cutting output to around 99,000 vehicles. Yet demand for leisure travel remained steady, and the used-vehicle market saw record activity.

The industry’s revenue dropped by 6.5% in 2025, reaching €14.1 billion. This marked the second year in a row of declining sales after a long period of growth. The slowdown came as dealers worked through a temporary oversupply of stock, even though consumer interest stayed strong.

Nearly 94,100 new motorhomes and caravans were registered across Germany in 2025, showing that buyers still wanted leisure vehicles. At the same time, the used market thrived, with over 192,000 ownership transfers—the highest number on record.

The CIVD, the industry association, described 2025 as a year of uncertainty. Domestic economic pressures and global political tensions weighed on consumer confidence. However, the group remains cautiously optimistic about 2026.

Manufacturers scaled back production in 2025 to match supply with demand. While revenue and output fell, registrations and used-vehicle sales stayed high. The industry now looks ahead, hoping for a more stable year in 2026.
