Gorilla’s High-Five Wins Top Prize at Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards
A British photographer, Roy Cohn, has taken the top honour at this year’s Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards. Cohn’s playful shot of a gorilla high-fiving him in Rwanda’s Virunga mountains won the overall prize. The annual contest also set a new record, with over 10,000 entries from 109 countries.
The winning image, titled High Five, shows a young male gorilla reaching out to Cohn. It also claimed first place in the mammals category. Judges first narrowed the submissions down to 40 finalists before selecting winners across seven categories, including reptiles, insects, and fish.
This year’s Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards drew unprecedented global interest. The winning images, from gorillas to foxes, will remain on show in London for the next two months. The contest continues to highlight both humour and talent in nature photography.
