Green Week 2025 Launches Transformative Training Manuals for Sustainable Farming

Green Week 2025 saw the launch of two transformative training manuals, Biochar Application for Sustainable Soil Improvement and Smart Agriculture: IoT-Based Technologies. The event, attended by 48 participants from KazNARU and other institutions, aimed to empower agricultural communities with affordable, accessible innovations.

The manuals, developed through a joint initiative by IOFS, ICESCO, and KazNARU, offer practical, low-cost solutions for researchers, students, and farmers across Central Asia and the Global South. The Biochar manual provides scalable methods to enhance soil fertility, water retention, and climate resilience using pyrolysis techniques. It features case studies from various countries. Meanwhile, the Smart Agriculture manual introduces IoT-based tools for precision farming, including sensor networks, cloud platforms, and AI-driven systems for irrigation and crop monitoring.

The session featured hands-on demonstrations in collaboration with Kyzylorda University and Astana IT University, showcasing real-world applications of biochar and IoT technologies in agriculture. Certificates were awarded to participants, highlighting the initiative's focus on capacity-building and youth engagement.

The manuals align with IOFS's Vision 2031 and ICESCO's commitment to science and technology for food security. They were unveiled during Green Week 2025, attended by 48 participants including faculty, students, and researchers from KazNARU and other institutions. The event aimed to empower agricultural communities with affordable, accessible innovations that reduce reliance on chemical inputs and enhance digital literacy.
