.Here is an ultra-exclusive private island concept in the Maldives

A new ultra-private resort called Somewhere Island has opened in the Maldives. Designed for exclusive group stays, it offers seven spacious residences within a UNESCO-protected marine reserve. Each booking includes a personal butler and access to a restaurant blending global techniques with local flavours.

The resort sits inside the Baa Atoll Biosphere Reserve, an area known for its rich coral reefs and marine biodiversity. Guests arrive via a 30-minute seaplane ride from Velana International Airport in Malé. Once there, they stay in expansive villas—either three- or four-bedroom—each with its own infinity pool, some stretching up to 47 metres long.

Nightly rates begin at £13,408 for a three-bedroom villa and £16,097 for a four-bedroom, including breakfast. Every group is paired with a *Roohu*, a dedicated butler ensuring tailored service throughout their stay. Dining takes place at Safar, the resort’s main restaurant and bar, where dishes combine international culinary methods with ingredients sourced from the Indian Ocean. The concept is part of a broader project by artist and entrepreneur Tobias Revell. A second phase, named Nowhere Island, will launch in 2026 off the coast of Lanzarote, Spain. Unlike Somewhere Island, it will operate as a temporary, invitation-only art residency with curated exhibitions and workshops. Nowhere Island’s rates start at £43,832 per night, requiring a minimum three-night booking, and will offer just two residences available only on a full buy-out basis.

Somewhere Island provides a secluded luxury experience in one of the Maldives’ most protected natural settings. With private pools, personal butlers, and a focus on bespoke hospitality, it targets travellers seeking exclusivity. The upcoming Nowhere Island will extend this model into an art-focused retreat, though with even higher rates and stricter access.
