How Tom Blake turned side hustles into a six-figure remote career

Tom Blake has turned side hustles into a full-time income while travelling the world. After selling his content business for a six-figure sum, he now earns thousands each month by testing and reviewing gig apps. His journey began with small experiments during his college years.

Blake first explored side gigs as a student. Over time, he built a content business that generated over $1 million (€920,000) in revenue. He eventually sold it to focus on digital nomad life.

His current earnings come from multiple sources. Rewards apps like Scrambly pay users for downloading apps, playing games, or testing products. Website and app testing platforms, including PlaytestCloud and Userlytics, offer cash for feedback on early-stage products. AI training work on Micro1 also provides steady income, though pay rates vary.

Niche gig apps, such as Sharetown, often pay better than mainstream options like Uber or DoorDash. Blake also highlights paid market research as one of the simplest ways to earn. Participants can make $50 to $200 (€46–184) for short sessions. Since 2018, he has recommended at least seven different platforms for these types of jobs.

Today, his YouTube channel and Substack newsletter document his experiences with side gigs. These projects now bring in six figures annually, while his side hustles alone add around $2,500 (€2,300) each month.

Blake's approach shows how combining multiple small income streams can replace a traditional job. His content business, app testing, and market research work provide both flexibility and financial stability. The model continues to attract others looking for remote or gig-based careers.
