Infoblox overhauls DDI suite to secure hybrid and multi-cloud networks

Infoblox has expanded its Universal DDI Product Suite to simplify DNS, DHCP, and IP address management across hybrid and multi-cloud setups. The latest updates aim to tackle common operational issues while improving security and reliability. Many businesses have faced outages and breaches due to misconfigurations in these critical network services.

Over half of surveyed enterprises reported downtime in the past two years from DDI errors, with more than 40% linking security incidents to such mistakes. The new features address these gaps with automation, better cloud integration, and stronger defences against attacks.

The updated suite now includes a unified, SaaS-based platform that merges on-premises NIOS deployments, cloud services, and external DNS providers into a single interface. This consolidation helps teams manage fragmented DNS administration and streamline upgrades in older infrastructures. It also resolves problems like overlapping IP ranges in iCloud environments.

New integrations have been added for major cloud providers. Amazon VPC IPAM Integration lets network teams allocate IPv4 blocks for AWS Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs) directly from the Infoblox portal before transferring them to Amazon's system. Similarly, Google Internal Range Integration detects Google Cloud VPC networks and internal IP ranges, giving administrators a centralised view of usage across Google environments.

Security enhancements play a key role in the update. DNS Infrastructure Protection now offers adaptive defences against volumetric and protocol-based attacks, keeping external services online during assaults. Redundancy for External DNS ensures websites and public applications stay accessible even if the primary DNS provider fails. The suite also provides unified management for public-facing services, covering internal systems, cloud DNS, and external DNS-SaaS providers.

The upgrades position Infoblox as a strong competitor to solutions like Cisco Umbrella and Akamai. By incorporating AI-driven threat intelligence and automated IP management, the company aims to address security and scalability challenges faster than traditional rivals.

The expanded Universal DDI Product Suite targets the growing need for reliable, secure, and scalable network management in complex IT environments. Businesses using the platform can now reduce misconfiguration risks, improve iCloud integration, and strengthen defences against disruptions. The updates also simplify operations for teams handling hybrid and multi-cloud infrastructures.
