ITS Thailand President to Speak at Road User Charging Conference Asia Pacific 2025
Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Tongkarn Kaewchalermtong, president of ITS Thailand and chairperson of the ASEAN Federation of Engineering Organizations' Transportation and Logistics Working Group, will speak at the Road User Charging Conference Asia Pacific 2025. The conference, taking place on 01-02 October at the Four Points by Sheraton Singapore, Riverview hotel, will discuss the future of user-financed transportation, which is set to be fully digital, data-driven, and integrated into broader mobility ecosystems by 2030.
Kaewchalermtong, who finds bridging policy, technology, and real-world implementation rewarding, will discuss sustainable public-private partnerships in road pricing. She will also participate in a panel discussing decarbonising transport and the role of road user charging (RUC) in achieving net zero. Kaewchalermtong advises implementing user-financed transport schemes in a holistic and phased approach. She recognises that legislation can both catalyse and hinder innovation in this sector. The most pressing challenge in 2025 is balancing financial sustainability with public acceptance.
The conference aims to address these challenges and explore the future of user-financed transportation. Kaewchalermtong's expertise in policy, technology, and implementation makes her a valuable contributor to these discussions. Her insights are expected to provide a comprehensive perspective on the road ahead for this critical aspect of mobility.
