Japan House LA Hosts Film, Food, and Flower Events This Month
The Los Angeles hub of the innovative 'Japan House' project, an initiative by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is hosting a series of engaging events. Visitors can enjoy a special film screening, explore the art of Japanese flower arrangement, and delve into the world of samurai weaponry at an extended exhibition.
The hub, one of three worldwide alongside London and São Paulo, offers diverse programs showcasing the best of Japan. This month, a special edition of 'Movies & Bites' invites all ages to watch the animated film 'Fortune Favors Lady Nikuko'. The event also introduces Japan's 'konamon' street food culture with dishes like yakisoba and okonomiyaki.
On the creative front, visitors can participate in a hands-on floral arrangement workshop led by floral artist Mitsuko Osuga. The session blends Western techniques with traditional Japanese elements, using seasonal flowers to create beautiful arrangements. Meanwhile, the exhibition 'NEO-JAPONISM | SAMURAI & BEYOND' has been extended to include a display of authentic samurai weaponry. This rare opportunity allows visitors to see historic blades, fittings, and helmets up close.
The second floor of the hub features an exhibition gallery and WAZA Shop, while the fifth floor hosts a variety of programs and events at the multi-purpose hall (Salon) and the library.
The Los Angeles hub of 'Japan House' continues to offer unique experiences that celebrate Japanese culture. From film screenings and culinary delights to creative workshops and historical exhibitions, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
