Kazakh Passport Ranks Highest Among Central Asian Countries in Henley Passport Index 2025

The Kazakh passport has climbed three spots to 63rd in the Henley Passport Index 2025, making it the highest-ranked passport among Central Asian countries[1][3][5]. This improvement in ranking reflects the country's expanding diplomatic relations and growing reputation as a safe travel destination.

As of 2025, holders of Kazakh passports have visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 79 countries worldwide[1]. This is an improvement from the previous year's ranking of 66th, where the Kazakh passport granted visa-free access to 77 countries[4].

Compared to other Central Asian countries, Kazakhstan leads the pack. Kyrgyzstan follows closely in 73rd place, with visa-free access to 63 countries, while Uzbekistan ranks 74th with access to 62 countries[1]. Tajikistan and Turkmenistan trail behind, with Tajikistan in 80th place and access to 56 countries, and Turkmenistan in 85th place with access to 49 countries[1].

Singapore tops the Henley Passport Index 2025 with access to 195 visa-free travel opportunities, securing the top spot[1]. Japan and South Korea are tied for second place with a score of 193, making them the runners-up[1].

The Henley Passport Index, which uses exclusive data from the International Air Transport Authority, includes 199 passports and 227 travel destinations[2]. The index, which reflects the latest shifts in passport power, is regularly updated with expert analysis[6].

Afghanistan, at the bottom of the ranking, has access to only 26 visa-free destinations[7]. In contrast, EU member states France, Germany, Italy, and Spain, along with Finland and South Korea, have access to 192 destinations without a prior visa[7].

The Henley Passport Index 2025 was released on January 8[3]. The index, which includes data spanning 19 years, is a valuable resource for those planning international travel[2].
