Kazakhstan’s winter tourism booms as travellers seek new adventures
Winter tourism in Kazakhstan is gaining momentum as locals and foreigners discover new destinations. Mountain resorts, spa retreats, and mineral springs are attracting crowds, while prices for news tours have risen by 10-15% this year. Meanwhile, Kazakh travellers are also booking trips abroad for the New Year holidays.
Nearly two million people visited Kazakhstan’s national parks between January and July 2025. The Almaty Region remains the most popular, but interest in nature-based tourism is spreading. At the same time, demand for eco-tours, wellness breaks, and adventure travel is climbing during the winter months.
Foreign visitors, especially from China, India, Türkiye, and Arab nations, are showing more interest in Kazakhstan’s winter news. Locally, many are splitting their holidays between warm seaside trips abroad and domestic ski or spa getaways.
For New Year travel, Kazakh tourists are favouring destinations like Vietnam, Thailand, and Qatar. Vietnam stands out this season due to its affordability and quality, with many tours already fully booked. Other top choices include Türkiye, the Maldives, and the United Arab Emirates. Estimates suggest that between 70,000 and 90,000 Kazakh citizens will travel overseas for the celebrations.
The rise in domestic winter tourism reflects changing travel habits, with more people exploring Kazakhstan’s natural and wellness attractions. Higher tour prices and strong demand for international trips also highlight the growing appetite for diverse holiday news. Both local and foreign interest in the country’s winter destinations is expected to keep climbing.
