Koblenz's City Center Transformed into an Open-Air Art Gallery
Koblenz's city center has undergone a vibrant transformation, thanks to the 'Urban Art' project. Electrical boxes, once dull and unnoticed, have been given new life as pieces of art, creating an open-air gallery that invites visitors to explore and linger.
The project, initiated by evm, the city administration, and the cultural association, aims to enhance the city's appearance, deter vandalism, and engage local artists. The artist collective 'Kollektiv Rödel' was commissioned to create the creative designs for the electrical boxes.
The artists have incorporated a variety of themes into their designs, including nature, sustainability, and city life. The result is a unique blend of art and functionality that adds a touch of vibrancy to the city center.
To guide visitors through this open-air gallery, a walking tour brochure is available for free at Koblenz Tourism and the evm customer center on Schlossstraße.
The 'Urban Art' project has not only transformed the city's electrical boxes into works of art but also created a new attraction for visitors and residents alike. By involving local artists and incorporating diverse themes, the project has successfully enhanced Koblenz's appearance and provided a unique way to explore the city.
