Kraków crowned Europe's best city for remote workers in new study

A new study has ranked the best European cities for remote workers, weighing up costs, safety and internet quality. Poland stands out as the top destination, with Kraków named the overall best city for digital nomads. Meanwhile, Dublin has been labelled the least affordable, with monthly expenses topping £4,000.

The report highlights Poland's mix of low living costs and fast internet, making it ideal for remote work. Warsaw and Budapest also offer the cheapest housing and public transport among the cities surveyed. Both cities provide strong digital infrastructure without high expenses.

Prague and Tallinn strike a balance between affordability and connectivity, placing them in the top five. Dubrovnik, however, leads in safety, scoring nearly twice as high as Lyon in security ratings. Southern European cities like Madrid, Seville, Lisbon and Porto also feature in the top ten, thanks to their pleasant climates and strong safety records. At the other end of the scale, Reykjavík and Amsterdam rank among the most expensive for remote workers. Japan has also entered the conversation, offering British citizens a free 12-month visa with minimal income checks—an attractive option for those seeking distant work locations.

The study confirms Poland's dominance for remote workers, with Kraków and Warsaw excelling in cost and infrastructure. Dublin's high expenses contrast sharply with more budget-friendly options in Eastern and Southern Europe. For those willing to travel further, Japan's visa offer adds another alternative for long-term remote work.
