Kuwait's Al-Sadu Weaving Dazzles at Expo Osaka 2025
Kuwait's traditional Al-Sadu weaving, a UNESCO-recognized intangible cultural heritage, took centre stage at Expo Osaka 2025. The Al-Sadu Crafts Association showcased the craft, promoting Kuwaiti arts globally and fostering cultural exchange.
The live demonstration, led by weavers Manar Ma'arifi, Sanaa Al-Adwani, Mastoura Al-Shihan, and Fad'a Al-Omar, allowed visitors to witness the intricate process of transforming wool threads into textiles adorned with Kuwaiti symbols.
The exhibition aimed to raise international awareness of Al-Sadu as an art form that harmonizes beauty and functionality. It also highlighted Kuwait's commitment to preserving traditional crafts and supporting women artisans. The Honorary President and Director General of the Sadu Crafts Society, present at the event, underscored Al-Sadu's role as a cultural ambassador and a symbol of dialogue.
