Major Cruise Lines Scrap Dozens of Sailings, Leaving Passengers Stranded
Major cruise lines have cancelled dozens of sailings over the next two years, leaving passengers with limited options. Carnival, Royal Caribbean, and Norwegian Cruise Line have all scrapped planned voyages, while Alaskan Dream Cruises shut down entirely in early 2026. Affected guests now face rebooking or refunds as companies adjust their schedules.
Carnival Cruise Line has axed 11 trips on its Carnival Firenze between October 12 and November 16, 2026. The company has not revealed alternative routes or replacement ports for that period. Instead, passengers can switch to similar sailings with their fare secured and extra onboard credit, or claim a full refund. The ship will later move from Long Beach to Miami in early 2027, then settle permanently in New York City by summer 2027.
Norwegian Cruise Line has also cancelled 41 voyages on its *Prima* and *Breakaway* ships from November 2026 to March 2027. Meanwhile, Royal Caribbean scrapped over 20 summer 2027 trips on *Freedom of the Seas*, redirecting the vessel to Southampton instead. The most abrupt change came from Alaskan Dream Cruises, which suddenly closed in February 2026. All its future sailings were cancelled without warning, leaving travellers with no alternative options from the company.
Passengers booked on the cancelled voyages must now choose between rebooking with incentives or receiving refunds. Carnival's Firenze will eventually relocate, but no temporary replacements have been confirmed for late 2026. Other lines have shifted ships to different ports, though many travellers will need to adjust their plans.
