400,000 Overnight Guests and Sparkle of Lights During Advent - Mecklenburg’s Christmas Markets Sparkle with Medieval Charm and Festive Magic

The festive season is upon us in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. Towns are preparing for a influx of visitors, with Christmas markets opening on November 24 in Schwerin, Wismar, and Stralsund. Expect around 400,000 overnight visitors and four million day-trippers in December.

Schwerin's Christmas market promises a delightful experience with an ice rink, nativity exhibition, fairy-tale trail, and a grand tree adorned with over 10,000 lights. Stralsund will host a medieval Advent market at St. John’s Monastery on December 13 and 14. In Rostock, a 20-meter coastal fir stands tall at Kröpeliner Tor, while a 40-meter Ferris wheel offers panoramic views at the market.

Wismar's town hall will be festively lit during the Christmas market. Greifswald's tree will be decorated by children on the market square on November 24. Santa Claus will arrive by ship in Greifswald on the first Sunday of Advent (November 30), following a similar tradition in Lübeck. Binz spa park will host 'Christmas Meets the North' from December 11 to 14, celebrating Baltic culture and Swedish delicacies.

With such diverse and enchanting events, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is set to welcome visitors from far and wide this Christmas season. From medieval markets to ice rinks and grand trees, there's something for everyone to enjoy.
