Mexico City's 'Pilgrim Puppies' Fair Aims to Rescue Abandoned Dogs in 2026
Mexico City will host its first-ever 'Pilgrim Puppies' adoption fair in early 2026. The event aims to find homes for dogs abandoned during the Guadalupe pilgrimage celebrations. Organisers have planned two days of activities to support these animals and encourage responsible pet ownership.
The fair will take place at Parque de los Cocodrilos on February 7 and 8, 2026. Doors open daily from 10 AM to 7 PM, offering visitors plenty of time to explore. Unlike previous years, no records exist of similar initiatives addressing abandoned dogs after the December festivities.
Attendees can adopt puppies, spend time with them, or take part in Valentine's Day-themed activities. Free services like deworming and vaccinations will also be available. Organisers hope these efforts will help the dogs find loving homes.
Visitors are encouraged to bring their own dogs to create a friendly, inclusive environment. Donations of essential supplies—such as dog food, blankets, beds, clothing, medications, toys, and bowls—are urgently needed. These contributions will directly support the care of the abandoned puppies.
The event provides a chance for abandoned dogs to find new families while raising awareness about pet welfare. Free veterinary services and themed activities will run throughout the weekend. Organisers rely on public support to ensure the fair's success and the dogs' future well-being.
