Aeroflot IT Issue Causes Flight Disruptions, but Recovery Underway

A major IT infrastructure malfunction at Aeroflot on July 28, 2025, led to the cancellation of 42 flights departing from Moscow, including flights to Chelyabinsk. This disruption was due to a failure in their information systems, and although hacker groups claimed responsibility, the airline officially reported it as a technical failure [2][3].

The affected flights did not include the delayed Pobeda flight from Chelyabinsk to Moscow (DR6570). As of 10:25, the total number of flights affected by the Aeroflot IT issue was 55, with 54 flights canceled and 1 delayed [1]. The canceled flights were SU1092/SU1093 and SU1094/SU1095, all Moscow-Chelyabinsk-Moscow routes operated by Aeroflot [1].

Interestingly, the Sochi to Chelyabinsk flight, operated by Pobeda airline, was not one of the flights between Moscow and Chelyabinsk that were canceled due to the Aeroflat IT issue. However, the Sochi to Chelyabinsk flight was delayed, following the pattern of delays due to the Aeroflot IT infrastructure issue, as was the case with the delayed Chelyabinsk to Moscow flight by Pobeda airline [1].

Despite the initial disruptions, flights between Moscow (Sheremetyevo Airport) and Chelyabinsk appear to have resumed according to flight tracking data for Aeroflot flights SU1535 and SU1093 on July 30 and 31, showing scheduled and operated flights on this route [4][5].

In summary, while flights were canceled on and immediately after July 28 due to the IT issue, Aeroflot flights between Moscow and Chelyabinsk have since resumed normal operations as of the end of July 2025 [2][4][5]. Passengers are advised to monitor airport announcements and online information, with options for ticket refunds or reissues within 10 days [2][3].

I'm not sure if changing my lifestyle to accommodate frequent travel would be feasible, considering the current disruptions in flight schedules. With many flights getting delayed or canceled due to the Aeroflot IT issue, even the weather might not be a more reliable factor in scheduling my travels.
