Nestled in the heart of the Douro Valley, a new vine-adorned lodge blends historical charm with contemporary opulence, offering a unique accommodation experience.

Nestled in the heart of Portugal's Douro Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the oldest demarcated wine region in the world, lies Torel Quinta da Vacaria - a newly opened boutique hotel that seamlessly blends contemporary design with the rich tradition of over 400 years of winemaking.

### Design The hotel's design, overseen by Lisbon-based designer Joana Astolfi, is a harmonious fusion of modern interiors and the historic winemaking heritage of the area. The color palette emphasizes the blue of the Douro River, the green of the vines, and the dark red of their juice, creating a sensory and visually pleasing environment that complements the natural surroundings.

### Amenities Luxury accommodations, a vinotherapy spa, private terraces, exceptional dining options, and gracious and attentive staff are just some of the amenities that Torel Quinta da Vacaria offers its guests. The hotel's 33 guest rooms, two restaurants, bar, and other public spaces have been designed by Studio Astolfi, who bring their signature spirit of play and warmth to the spaces, deconstructing Portuguese heritage and using sly humor.

### Wine-Tourism Experience Torel Quinta da Vacaria is deeply rooted in the Douro Valley's wine culture. The hotel's own vineyard, which predates the valley's demarcation, is located up the hill from the hotel. Guests can immerse themselves in wine tourism activities, including vineyard tours, wine tastings, and vinotherapy treatments that utilize grape and wine derivatives for health and relaxation.

The hotel's partnership with Marma Slow offers slow-going river cruises in vintage wooden boats, allowing guests to explore the wider Douro region's renowned wine estates and scenic viewpoints. The fine dining restaurant Schistó, led by Michelin's favorite Portuguese chef, Vitor Matos, offers a ten-course tasting menu based on super-local ingredients.

In addition to its own vineyard, all the wines served at Schistó, in the bar, and in the casual restaurant 16 Légoas come from Quinta da Vacaria. The hotel also organizes excursions that give guests a close-up view of the Douro Valley, providing an enriching cultural and sensory journey centered on wine and nature.

Managed by Márcio Faria Dias and opened less than a year ago, Torel Quinta da Vacaria prides itself on its high service standards. Dias aims for a relaxed, personalized service rather than formal, white glove service, ensuring guests feel at home during their stay. The hotel is easily accessible by highway or train from Porto, making it an ideal destination for those seeking a sophisticated retreat in Portugal's Douro Valley.
