The image shows a wooden table topped with bowls filled with food and a pot of soup, as well as a plate with chopsticks, a bowl with a spoon, and a basket with leaves and flowers. The food items in the bowls appear to be a combination of rice, vegetables, and other ingredients, suggesting that the image is of a traditional Thai food recipe.

Asian Cuisine: How to Cook Ramen, Rice Soup, and More Authentically - New Cookbook Brings Authentic Asian Flavors to German Kitchens

A new cookbook is bringing the flavours of Asia to German home kitchens. Authentic Asian Food: Sharing the Feast was written by Simi and Stefan Leistner, food bloggers known for recreating Asian dishes. Their work goes beyond recipes—it also explores the traditions behind meals from five countries: Japan, Korea, China, Thailand, and Vietnam.

The Leistners' passion for Asian cuisine began over 15 years ago in Hanoi, Vietnam. Since then, they have travelled widely across the continent, gathering recipes and studying local food cultures. Their book reflects this deep connection, offering more than just instructions—it highlights how meals in Asia are about sharing and community.

In many Asian cultures, dining is a communal experience. Dishes are placed in the centre for everyone to enjoy together, and hosts keep serving until plates are empty. Unlike Western meals, there is no fixed order for courses, making the experience more relaxed and social.

The book itself was co-authored by Andreas Mayer, a German, and Yuichi Imamura, a Japanese national. Their collaboration adds authenticity to the recipes, ensuring they stay true to their origins. The Leistners hope readers will embrace not only the dishes but also the spirit of togetherness that defines Asian dining.

The cookbook is now available for those wanting to explore Asian flavours at home. It includes recipes from Japan, Korea, China, Thailand, and Vietnam, along with insights into their food traditions. By sharing these meals, the Leistners aim to bring a taste of Asian hospitality into German households.
