Omsk travelers ditch Turkey for Uzbekistan, Vietnam and budget Black Sea escapes
Omsk residents are looking beyond their usual summer spots this year. While Turkey remains the top choice for warm seaside breaks, new trends show growing interest in cultural trips and alternative beach destinations.
Travel experts note that rising costs and shifting preferences are changing holiday plans for many in the region. For years, Turkey has dominated as the go-to summer escape for Omsk travellers seeking all-inclusive resorts. But recent data reveals a shift. More people are now exploring cultural tourism, with Uzbekistan emerging as a fresh favourite for its rich history and heritage.
Vietnam is also climbing the ranks as a preferred destination. Direct flights from Omsk to Da Nang have become 15–20% more expensive over the past three years, driven by higher fuel prices and demand. However, routes via Astana remain 10–15% cheaper on average, thanks to competitive pricing from Air Astana and partner airlines. This makes Vietnam a more affordable option for those willing to take a connecting flight.
Closer to home, Anapa is gaining attention as a budget-friendly alternative to Sochi. While flights to Anapa currently land in Gelendzhik or Krasnodar, direct train services make the journey straightforward. Yelena Kashlenko, a local travel analyst, highlights that Omsk residents still prioritise warm seas and hassle-free holidays—but flexibility in planning can stretch their budgets further. The summer travel market for Omsk is evolving. With Turkey holding its lead, destinations like Uzbekistan and Vietnam are drawing more visitors. Meanwhile, Anapa offers a convenient and cost-effective Black Sea option.
By considering indirect flights or lesser-known locations, travellers can still find great value for their holidays.
