ONYX Hospitality Redefines Laos with Amari’s Cultural Luxury Retreats

ONYX Hospitality Group is showcasing a fresh side of Laos with two distinct destinations: Amari Vientiane and Amari Vang Vieng. The concept, Falling in Love with Laos, highlights the country’s cultural elegance and natural tranquillity through carefully designed experiences.

Amari Vientiane opened its doors in March 2017, offering a blend of Lao heritage and modern comfort in the capital’s bustling centre.

Amari Vientiane sits in the heart of the city, close to key landmarks and just a short distance from the airport. The 248-room hotel features a rooftop bar, Stellar Bar, where guests can enjoy panoramic views of the Mekong River alongside cocktails infused with local flavours. Each morning, the hotel hosts a traditional Lao alms-giving ceremony, immersing visitors in the country’s customs.

The dining experience, Local Flair, takes Lao ingredients and reimagines them with a contemporary twist. The approach stays true to cultural roots while making the dishes both approachable and unforgettable. Meanwhile, Amari Vang Vieng provides a serene riverside retreat with 160 modern rooms adorned with Laotian handicrafts. An outdoor swimming pool complements the peaceful setting. Guests can choose between two dining venues: Essence, serving Laotian, Thai, and international cuisine, and Cascade, a relaxed lobby lounge and café-style bar by the river. Both properties reflect Laos’ charm through thoughtful details. Local craftsmanship meets contemporary design, while Thai-inspired hospitality is subtly woven with Lao traditions.

The two Amari hotels present Laos in a new light, combining cultural depth with modern luxury. Travellers can explore the country’s traditions through curated experiences, from riverside relaxation to rooftop views over the Mekong. Each location offers a distinct yet harmonious way to engage with Lao heritage.
