Orihuela's EU-Backed Tourism Sustainability Plan: 25.2% Complete
Orihuela's ambitious sustainability program for tourism, backed by the European Union, is well underway. The upgrade aims to transform the Costa Blanca destination into a model for modern, eco-conscious tourism.
The comprehensive strategy, divided into four key themes, comprises 15 strategic projects. These include digital advancements, green initiatives, energy efficiency upgrades, and competitiveness boosts. Currently, five projects are out for tender, six are in progress, and four have been successfully completed.
Notable undertakings involve the creation of a sustainable cultural route to mitigate climate change impacts and the development of a digital platform for interactive tourist guidance. The goal is to harmonize innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity in Orihuela's tourism growth. Upgrades to public lighting and energy systems are also part of the plan's extensive measures.
One year since its launch, the plan has achieved 25.2% of its goals, demonstrating consistent progress. The Orihuela Sustainable Tourism Destination Plan (PSTD) is now a quarter complete.
With the European Union's financial support, Orihuela's sustainability program for tourism is making steady strides. The plan's diverse projects, from digital platforms to energy efficiency upgrades, are set to make Orihuela a benchmark for sustainable tourism on the Costa Blanca.
